Colombia said No

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos delivered a messagge to Colombian population: he accepted the results of a referendum on the peace deal between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). People said No.

I summoned you to decide whether or not to support the deal that would end the conflict with the FARC, and most of you, whether by a narrow margin, have said ‘No’,

declared the leader.

The president called on population so this democratic decision does not affect the stability of the country.

He also informed that the bilateral ceasefire remains in force.

Santos announced that on Monday he will call all political forces, particularly those that didn’t support the deal, to listen to them, to encourage dialogue and to determine the next move.

In addition, he instructed the chief negotiator for the Government and the High Commissioner for Peace to travel to Havana and keep the FARC negotiators informed on the outcome of this political dialogue.
