For Ana María Flores, a 25-year-old woman, her thesis to graduate as an architect unexpectedly became a successful business and was the beginning of her company “Cosaverde”.

Cosaverde is dedicated to the design and creation of terrariums, succulents and vertical gardens, ideal for small spaces. The company has more than 8,000 followers on Facebook and more than 2,000 on Instagram.

Ana María takes care of almost every aspect of her business: she designs and builds the mini-ecosystems with her own hands and she also takes the pictures and updates her social networks.

The business has gone further. In addition to the Facebook page, her creations are available for sale in 4 places in Curridabat, San José, Santa Ana and Escazú, but she dreams about opening a store of her own.

She uses more than 20 species of plants in her designs, and suppliers from rural areas provide some of her raw materials.

Flores said that she makes between 50 and 60 terrariums to supply the 4 places per month, but must also meet orders for weddings decorations and bouquets. The customer can provide ideas for the designs.

The young architect said that her next step will be the creation of internal gardens.
