Costa Rica and Vanuatu established diplomatic relations

Costa Rica and the Republic of Vanuatu established diplomatic relations on September 28th. The link was made at the 73rd United Nations (UN) Assembly, where the vice president and chancellor, Epsy Campbell, signed the agreement with her counterpart Ralph Regenvanu.

Vanuatu is in Oceania. It is an island country, that is, totally limited to an island or a group of islands, and that has no territory on the continent.

Vice President Campbell said that both countries will be allies on issues of environmental conservation, sustainable development, and respect for human rights.

Costa Rica has a policy of universalization of diplomatic relations and mainly with those partners with whom we have important aspects in common. Vanuatu has a recent democratic system, which is why Costa Rica is presented as a strategic partner for the exchange of experiences on gender parity, social inclusion, and also on issues related to democratic institutions,”

said Campbell.
