Dog rescued in the middle of Hurricane Otto reunited with family

Ricardo Hernández

Last Saturday the community of Upala witnessed the return of the dog Russell, who was reunited with his family after being rescued by Ricardo Hernández, from the Red Cross, amid relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Otto.

Russell was stuck in the mud and a girl in tears asked the rescuer to save him:

Take care of him, we cannot do it right now.”

Hernández could not refuse and took the dog to his home in Heredia. That’s how after 40 days, Russell left the estate and returned to the home of his owner Marcinett Espinoza, who does not know how to thank Hernández for saving and taking care of his pet.

Thank God, Russell is already with us and it has been very beautiful. We are very grateful. Happy. We are all very excited and grateful to Don Ricardo. God always sends angels and I think someone else would not have done what he did,”

said Espinoza.

Hernández was satisfied after completing a mission he never imagined.
