There is a new case of animal hoarding in Alajuela. This time it is a poor, elderly couple who are living with at least 25 dogs.

According to Andrea Vallejo, from Vida Animal Costa Rica, the couple lives on the banks of a river in a tin shanty without basic services.

They live off charity. The old man sells scrap metal and the lady is very sick,

explained Vallejo.

It is the second time this couple faces the same situation. Last year, 64 dogs were found, including puppies, pregnant, female dogs and male dogs. At that time, Vida Animal managed to place 37 dogs for adoption. The others had to stay with the old couple. Nowadays there are 25 dogs, including puppies.

Vallejo declared that neighbors have complained because the animals roam the streets, they tear trash bags and now they have 30 days to find them a new home. As consequence, the association is encouraging people to adopt one of these 25 dogs.
