Turrialba volcano has increased its activity since early Saturday morning.

According to experts, in the last hours the emissions have been more energetic, with eruptions that reached a thousand meters high.

In the last hours of Sunday afternoon, ashfall was recorded in Coronado, San Gerardo de Irazú, Moravia, Goicoechea, Tibás, Santo Domingo and San Isidro de Heredia. But the variations in wind direction could take the material to Pacayas, Paradise, El Guarco and Oreamuno.

Cloudiness that occurs in the upper parts of the colossus prevents experts to measure the current height of the ash column. The National Seismological Network, OVSICORI and the National Emergency Commission are monitoring the smoky mountain.
