FA leader supports Ligia Falla’s advise to taxi drivers

The leader of political party Frente Amplio (FA), Edgardo Araya, supports the legal advice that Ligia Fallas, a legislator from the party, offered on Tuesday to the taxi drivers arrested during the protest against Uber.

What I find outrageous is that it would be seen as a bad thing that they have an habeas corpus to demonstrate that their arrest was unfair. That seems to me almost fascist and it’s like they don’t have the right to defend themselves. I think this a case of the right to self-defense, especially if there are signs of an illegal arrest,”

said Araya. However, the issue has not been discussed by FA.

Araya also said that the fact that Ligia Fallas had a role in the formation of a group called “Social movements from the legislature” is not something negative, because it’s a constitutional right to unionized workers.

On Tuesday, Fallas declared that her advisers drafted an habeas corpus to free the arrested taxi drivers, after the operation on the riots against Uber.
