The heavy rains of yesterday’s morning caused the overflow of at least 3 rivers in Upala and Guanacaste.

Four communities woke up to flooded areas and some families even had to be evacuated.
The communities are:
Cuipilapa in Bagaces
Santa Clara in Upala
Four Voices in Upala
Jácamo in Upala

Jim Batres, DDO of the Costa Rican Red Cross, said there were 60 people directly affected in Bagaces.

The exact number of victims in Upala, near Niño River, has not yet been detailed.

However, the Fire Department confirmed the evacuation of 9 families after the Zapote River overflowed, just a few weeks after it wreaked havoc during Hurricane Otto.
