November 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) announced on November 17th that a total of 29 communities are being affected by heavy rains in the South Pacific.

According to Iván Brenes, executive president of the CNE, the most affected areas are Corredores, Golfito and Osa, where communities are isolated by landslides and floods.

Brenes said that a yellow alert was already issued for the Southern Zone and a green alert for the National Caribbean.

At the moment it has not been necessary to open shelters. Nevertheless, the population is asked to be alert and in the next hours attention centers would be enabled.
