Hospitals serve annual average of 500 snake bites cases


Last year public hospitals reported attending to 501 cases of snake bites, which has been the norm since 654 cases were handled in 2009. In 2012, only one case was attended at Calderon Guardia Hospital in San Jose, but 71 were reported at William Allen Hospital in Turrialba. Snake bites are more common in rural areas, especially those associated with coffee and agricultural.
