INCOFER plans to build a first-world station

INCOFER (Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles) is planning to build a “first-world station” in Heredia.

Guillermo Santana, INCOFER’s executive chief, recently posted a video on his Facebook profile with the design of San Joaquín de las Flores’ new railway station. This is intended to be carried out with the collaboration of the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction.

INCOFER has several projects to improve the train service in La Gran Área Metropolitana (GAM), such as the purchase of 8 new trains within 6 months to meet users’ growing demand.

Each day, about 17.000 people use the train service in its 3 routes to Cartago, Alajuela and Heredia.
