La Esperanza project: houses for poor people

President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís participated in the inauguration of La Esperanza project and from now on, more than 250 poor people from Purral community in Goicoechea will have a decent house.

Funds come from the Banco Hipotecario de la Vivienda’s Social Fund for Housing (BANHVI). 1,749 million colones were invested.

People who now live in those houses come from Las Amelias and Don Carlos, Lupita, Altamira, Matadero, El Pueblo, 85 and Calle Soto.

The project includes concrete sidewalks, ramps, sewage system, electric power distribution and children’s play areas distributed in different parts of the place.

One of the beneficiaries was Yensy Jiménez, who explained in a brief speech that she went from living in a shanty to living in a house where her children can grow safely.

Minister of Housing, Rosendo Pujol is concerned about the need to reduce poverty and hunger. He said that housing projects will continue.
