Costa Rica is known for being a tourist destination. In only 51,100 km2, there are many options to enjoy the natural beauties the country offers.

Although the beaches are mentioned among tourists, the possibility of making a trip to get to know the country is much greater.

In the north of the country, you can find Fortuna de Bagaces, a very attractive tourist spot that has managed to position itself in the national market. Its proximity to the coastal areas has made this district a strategic stop for all those who want to enjoy the mountain and the beach in one trip.

Nevertheless, despite the joint efforts of residents, businessmen and government institutions, Hurricane Otto has considerably affected the tourist activity of the zone,

Geovanny Chaves, manager of the Thermomania water park, says they have been working together to reactivate the area after the natural disaster:

Tourism is the third source of economic income after livestock and the production of renewable energy. We need tourism to become a stronger income.

In addition to the impressive landscapes and favorable climate, the main attractions of La Fortuna de Bagaces are its hot springs. Thanks to its proximity to Miravalles volcano, residents and visitors can enjoy water parks and thermal spas throughout the year.

Likewise, the establishments offer complementary activities to satisfy the needs of its clients.

Marcos Alvarado, manager of Termales Guayacán, explains that in order to make the experience more attractive for tourists, the area offers other activities such as canopy, volcano walks, hanging bridges, lodging options and delicious local food.

Another favorite attraction is the mud bath in Las Hornillas. Bsides being relaxing and working as a natural exfoliant, it has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Enjoying its local products is another benefit of visiting La Fortuna. The most representative one is the cheese, which is found in almost every corner of the district.
