MOPT former Minister: “I did not beat her or tried to strangle her”

On Monday afternoon, the Minister of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) Carlos Villalta said that the issue of his resignation is not a recent matter and that he had been studying it for a week, due to his “personal situation”, which was fully understood by President Luis Guillermo Solís.

Villalta said that his family situation had been complicated and that he always found it difficult to finish his administration before the Transport portfolio.

The now former minister said that he did not beat or tried to strangle his wife, who filed a domestic violence complaint against him.

When the journalists stated that domestic violence includes verbal aggression, he said he would rather not going into detail but rather wait to respond in court.
