With zero inflation and the government boasting about it, most of the medical rates for surgical procedures and other treatments and services will rise 330%.
For example, getting an adjustable gastric band will increase from 818,410 to 3,521,910 colones (330% more).
Treating an injury will increase from 67,847 to 270,00 colones (299% more).
A mammogram will increase from 8,480 to 18,000 colones (112% more).
A colonoscopy will increase 50% from 360.439 colones to 541.000 colones.
It is important to clarify that these rates (already in force) are for fees to doctors only, do not includes other hospital costs. The rates of medical and surgical procedures are based on the regulations approved by the Governing Board of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica at its meeting No. 02/03/2016, held on February 3, 2016.
