Patricia Mora: The President has turned a blind eye on the cementazo

Patricia Mora, who is part of the commission investigating the irregular loans granted by the Bank of Costa Rica, said that President Luis Guillermo Solís did not comply with all that he promised when he assumed the administration of the Executive power in 2014.

According to the legislator, one of the sins committed by Solís during his administration and especially in the last period – when the cementazo case was uncovered – has been turning a blind eye on what his close friends were doing.

He betrayed what he had promised, by omission maybe, but he did not care about what his close friends did,”

said Mora in the Plenary. Although she did not give names, it is clear that she referred to legislators Victor Morales Zapata, Melvin Jiménez, or Mariano Figueres, his closest men and those who have been singled out in this situation.

So far, the president has not made decisions in this case, ensuring that until the results of the investigations are ready, he will do nothing despite a report by the Superintendent General of Financial Entities (Sugef) indicating serious breaches by the management and administration of the BCR regarding this loan.

Mora made the remarks while defending what was said by the liberationist Karla Prendas, who assured that Frente Amplio was in accomplice silence with the investigation on the credits of the BCR.

According to the Frente Amplio legislator, she has always acted according to the demands of the investigation and assured that some people want to face the investigation putting a political party first and the country second, and that she is going to take the cases until the last consequences.
