Perez Zeledon two years without a landfill

Garbage produced by residents is sent to Puntarenas in the absence of approval to open the new landfill

Garbage produced by 134,534 residents of Perez Zeledon continues to be shipped to Puntarenas for two years at a cost of ¢900 million ($1.82 million), following the closure of the original landfill. The new site for a landfill in La Angostura has been delayed since appeals have been filed to hear input from residents and investigate environmental problems related to water supply.
