Pregnant women received their kits!

On Friday, pregnant women from 23 cantons of Costa Rica, where most cases of zika have been reported, received their kits in order to avoid Aedes aegypti’s bite, which causes the virus. Kits were promised by the Ministry of Health two months ago.

The delivery was made in Jacó, one of the most affected areas.

5,000 women will benefit in their third month of pregnancy.

The package includes repellents and bed mosquito nets.

The latest epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Health reported 15 cases of pregnant women with Zika. Two weeks ago there were only 7 affected women.

For these women, prenatal care is more complex and their pregnancies are classified as “high risk” because there is a 14% probability that their babies are born with microcephaly.
