President postpones prostate surgery due to country’s emergency

President Luis Guillermo Solís postponed his prostate surgery that was initially scheduled for Wednesday this week.

On Monday afternoon Solís said at a news conference that the decision was made because of the emergency caused by Tropical Storm Nate.

He added that there is no date for rescheduling the surgery.

President Solís will undergo this process due to a non-cancerous enlargement in the prostate.

After the procedure, he will be recovering for at least two weeks and Helio Fallas, Minister of Finance and vice president of the republic will fill in his shoes in the meantime.
