President rejects request to ban Uber

President Carlos Alvarado rejected the request by taxi drivers so that the Government deactivates Uber in the following week. He reminded the transporters that there is a technical and material impossibility for the Executive Power to satisfy its primary demand.

His statements come after the meeting held on Tuesday between the government and taxi drivers, which did not clarify the future of the paid transport platform.

Even Alvarado said he can not commit to a deadline to modify the current law that is not responding to the current reality and prevents the legal operation of this application in the country.

After Tuesday’s meeting, taxi drivers and the government signed an agreement with 45 points, including continuing with traffic operations to detect illegal transporters.
