Redondo: ‘the MOPT hasn’t fulfilled its commitments”

Congressman Mario Redondo, from Partido Alianza Demócrata Cristiana, alleged breaches of the commitments made by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) to drive improvements in San José-Cartago road.

Redondo expressed concern about the increasing deterioration of Florencio del Castillo Highway and the time the MOPT has taken to start the works.

He declared that there was a commitment from president Luis Guillermo Solís and minister of MOPT Carlos Villalta to create a new section after Hacienda Vieja sector. However, it hasn’t happened. When asked about the situation, the Minister told Redondo that he had some inconveniences in CONAVI, but nothing has happened and the situation is worsening.

The legislator said that, for example, in the sector known as El Fierro or Ochomogo, the road is cracked in several places. He also pointed out there are delays in works to improve the road to La Lima and Taras.

Redondo asked Villalta to fulfill the commitments.
