Regulations on La Platina bridge

Due to La Platina closure, the dynamics on the bridge over Virilla River will be different. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) announced that the passage will be enabled in 2 routes, one per direction. However, not all vehicles can circulate freely.

From 6 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm, only public transportation, authorized by the Public Transport Council, will be able to circulate in the area.

In addition, emergency vehicles may circulate at any time of day: it includes Fire Department vehicles, Red Cross vehices, private ambulances, among others.

Outside those hours, all drivers will be able to circulate freely on both roads, from 9 am to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 6 am.

Trucks have a passage restriction in Alajuela-San José direction from 6 am to 8 am and in the opposite direction from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

The Transit Police will have 27 officers in areas such as La Pozuelo, La Valencia, Castella, Los Arcos and EPA Hardware, in order to regulate the provisions.

If a person violates these regulations, he or she will be fined with ₡ 51,771 colones.
