Rescued margay might survive critical conditions

A small margay that was lost in the public road in San Ramón was rescued by the Chief of the Police Delegation of the area.

After being transferred to the Zoo Ave refuge, it underwent surgery in the Veterinary Medical Hospital of the National University (UNA).

The director of said medical center for animals said that the female cat had several injuries in her head caused by a vehicle.

Despite its good coat, the female margay has a certain degree of blindness, as well as a considerable decrease in response to stimuli,”

reported Dr. Mauricio Jiménez.

After testing its blood and giving it several substances to try to stabilize it, the director of Veterinary Hospital reported on Saturday that its condition had worsened.

However, on Sunday, the conditions of the feline improved. It even reacted to stimuli, although it remains with a certain degree of blindness. The director of the medical center reported that the animal has the possibility of getting out of its critical condition.

Remember that indifference kills, if you see a wounded or sick animal, help it. If you can’t, then call the police,”

urged Lt. Jeff Kellerman on Facebook, after finding the animal.
