Salvadoran gang member who had asked for refuge was deported

A man identified as an active member of the Central American maras was deported from Costa Rican soil to El Salvador, where he has two arrest warrants for homicides.

The Intelligence Unit of the Office of Plans and Operations (OPO) of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) followed the 22-year-old man named Paz Padilla.

This individual belongs to Mara 18. The Salvadoran Anti-Gang Center confirmed that the man had arrest warrants for the crimes of homicide.

Paz Padilla was caught on August 25th, after CRHoy.com reported that the subject had circumvent the controls and had requested refuge, so the Judicial Police kept a strict surveillance over him and the Interpol National Office, the OIJ, the Police of Migration and the Police of Salvador proceeded with the arrest.
