Schools in Turrialba and Cártago are regularly working

Schools in Turrialba and Cartago are working as usual, as confirmed by Ronald Ramírez, supervisor of schools in circuit 04 and representative of the National Emergency Commission (CNE).

On Monday, Turrialba volcano presented at least 5 eruptions, and as consequence, Juan Santamaría International Airport decided to close its door.

Ramírez informed that Turrialba’s volcanic activity is normal and it has not affected schools. However, principals have been told to activate emergency protocols.

Yesterday morning, Turrialba volcano erupted again with a moderate intensity. According to Marino Protti, specialist from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) it was a gas and ash column that reached 1,000 meters high.
