Solís: “peace in Colombia will benefit the entire continent”

President Luis Guillermo Solís declared that the peace deal signed by the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) will benefit the entire continent.

Solís and Foreign Minister Manuel González were in Cartagena on Monday, where the peace deal was signed.

Costa Rica thinks it is an opportunity to build a hemisphere of peace. Colombian people, as well as South American peoples, have waited for this moment for so many years. It is the space for human progress and for building a different society,

stated Solís.

The peace deal in Colombia will end a 50-year dramatic conflict that took place in the American nation.

President Solís will return to Costa Rica on October 4th.

Before going to Cartagena, he spent a week in New York City, in the framework of the 71th Assembly of the United Nations (UN), where he was criticized for abandoning the Assembly during Brazilian president’s speech.
