Somali arrested for terrorist ties still awaiting deportation

The Somali man suspected of terrorist ties, arrested here in March, is still waiting to be deported.

The Immigration Police confirmed that Mohamed Ibaarahim Qoordheer, 25, will be removed from Costa Rica for having an irregular immigration status.

The man was arrested on March 23rd on suspicion of having links with radical terrorist groups in his country.

Ibraarahim remains at the Temporary Apprehension Center for Foreigners in Irregular Condition. He was stopped when he stayed at the center of extra-continental immigrants in La Cruz de Guanacaste.

The foreigner’s fingerprints triggered an international alert because they matched with a suspect registered in a United States database. In addition, representatives of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) visited the country to interrogate the subject.

The subject arrived in Costa Rica after a trip to countries like Brazil and Colombia.

His social media activities show several videos referring to armed men and women and reveal his controversial political position.

It is unknown when he will be deported.

Apparently, there are criminal groups irregularly mobilizing foreigners from African countries to the United States.
