Suspects of drug production were released!

Two subjects were released after a judge ruled in favor of their defense team, which stated the officers illegally entered the house where they found more than 300 marijuana plants and a laboratory for the production of cannabis.

Last Friday, the Drug Control Police (PCD) and the Public Force arrested the suspects named Torpe and Raight, both Jamaican nationals.

According to the Ministry of Security, 314 marijuana plants, three bags with cannabis blossoms, lamps, air conditioning equipment and objects used for controlled production were found in the San Francisco de Dos Ríos household.

However, the Criminal Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San José released the suspects.

At the hearing to request precautionary measures, the defense of the suspects presented a defective procedural activity, arguing that the search that took place was illegal. The judge ruled in favor of this appeal and immediately released the prisoners,”

said the Operational Unit of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that an appeal has already been filed, finding that the search was legal. The men are suspected of committing the offenses of cultivating and storing drugs without authorization.
