Technology to monitor prisoners in hospitals

After an inmate named Porras escaped from the authorities while being treated at the CalderÓn Guardia Hospital, the Penitentiary Police is preparing a plan to monitor inmates through technology.

According to director Pablo Bertozzi, the protocol of medical centers forbids the presence of members of security forces in the areas of care and recovery, as they are restricted areas.

We are thinking of the application of technology that allows us to monitor the prisoners. We have an average of 80 medical permits per day and we have an average of 15 to 20 hospitalized people,”

said Bertozzi.

In total, Bertozzi noted that it has been possible to have up to 120 permits in a day and the protocols must be respected. In addition, the official said that the officer in charge of Porras did not make any mistakes.
