The CNFL presented an increase proposal

The National Power and Light Company (CNFL) presented  an 175%-increase proposal in the generation rate to start implement it in the second half of this year and an increase proposal of 126% for 2018. The request was sent to the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP).

According to the entity, these increases would consist of a recognition of the structure of annual costs and expenses. As a result, this would translate into an increase of ¢ 2.69 / kWh for an end user with an average consumption of 250kWh during 2017.

It claims that the company’s financial equilibrium is affected by the balance between the expected revenues versus the operating costs.

Entrepreneurs from the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries disagree with the request, at a time when they consider that the country must reduce the costs of energy.
