The government: “child sexual abuse must be punished”

After knowing about the case of a pregnant girl who was allegedly raped by her father, the Executive expressed its opinion.

The Costa Rican government rejected any sexual abuse that affects children and it urged all institutions to use the law as their best weapon.

As expressed by national authorities, these crimes must be punished and minors need to always be protected by the law.

Vice-president Ana Helena Chacón declared that it is unacceptable that minors’ lives are affected by a sexual abuse.

However, this is not the only case: a man is accused of raping his stepdaughter and another man will serve a 32-year sentence for raping a girl and abusing 8 times of his niece.

INAMU declared that it will help the girl and her mother so they can go through this legal process. In addition, it stated that the girl was brave for telling her mother what had happened, unlike many rape victims, who are too scared to tell anyone about their situation.
