The new regulations on Virilla River will be in force from January 21st

The decree that defines the regulated crossing through Virilla River, on the general Cañas highway, will be published on January 20th and it will be in force on January 21st.

With the signature of president of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solis and minister of Public Works and Transport Carlos Villalta, the decree establishes that the measures must be followed. This applies to all natural and legal persons who own vehicles, as well as to those who drive them.

The decree establishes that the crossing restriction on the new bridge will take place from Mondays to Sundays from 6am to 9am and from 4pm to 7pm.

At such times, vehicular traffic will not be allowed for motorcycles, private vehicles in any of their modalities, light cars or heavy vehicles.

It should be mentioned that Article 4 of the Decree exempts from the restriction all public transport vehicles authorized by the Public Transport Council. Police force vehicles, those used for traffic control, ambulances and fire trucks are also exempt from this regulation.

The decree will be in force until the completion of the bridge over Virilla River.

Traffic barriers will be placed on January 21st to control traffic flow.

Heredia road, as an alternative route to the General Cañas highway, will have an exclusive lane for all public transportations.

In addition, the three-lane stretch between Price Smart and the traffic lights of La Valencia will have two lanes to San José from Monday to Sunday, until 4 pm, from 6 to 9 am; The external lane will be used by public transportation and the internal lane, or central one, will be used by the rest of vehicles. Furthermore, the lane towards Heredia will be set for all types of vehicles.

In the afternoons, the dynamics will be different from 4 pm to 7 om. The external lane towards Heredia will be used by public transportation and the central one will be set for the other vehicles that go to Heredia. The lane heading San José will be used by all types of automotive public transportation.

Furthermore, the agreement between Pedregal company and the Costa Rican Railways Institute (INCOFER) was signed on January 178th and, thanks to it, there is now a new stop at the train service between Belén and San José, in front of the company in Belén.

In this way, people will be able to travel from Heredia, Río Segundo, Belén and San Joaquín to San José and vice versa.

Similarly, services were extended from Monday to Friday.
