The United States and Mexico will fight the causes of illegal immigration

Mexican and American governments agreed to work together to promote development and stability in Central America, as a mechanism to fight the causes of illegal immigration in Central American.

US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited Mexico City and met with Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray and Minister of the Internal Affairs Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, among other officials.

The four ministers explained that they have greatly discussed the thorny issue of illegal migration to the United States.

Videgaray noted that migration has changed and Mexico went from being a expelling country to be a crossing point.
The Foreign Minister announced that Mexico and the United States will convene a meeting with the Northern Triangle (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador) and other countries such as Canada and Colombia to dialogue and accept joint responsibility for regional development in Central America, understanding that through the development and stability, causes of migration can be addressed.
