These are the deadliest roads in Costa Rica

A statistical analysis prepared by the Road Safety Council (COSEVI) listed routes 1, 32, 4, 35 and 2 as the most recorded one for deaths from traffic accidents. However, the cantonal or unknown routes, which represent the highest figure, also deserve  place in this list.

The most recent study from COSEVI includes data collected from January to September of this year. During that period, 328 people had died in the routes.

What are the main reasons for the accidents? The usual suspects: speeding, lane invasion, pedestrian carelessness, reckless drivers, drunk drivers and distractions such as cell phones.

The previous years’ trend  continues, and young people are the most common victim on the roads.
