Free helmets and road safety

June 27, 2016 by Staff News Writer

As part of the Road Safety Week, 300 motorcyclists received free helmets to encourage their use and to avoid severe injuries in traffic accidents.

“El motociclista pura vida” (“motorcycling is all about life”) was the activity motto and it took place at the National Stadium. According to Road Safety Council (COSEVI), in the last four years, 456 motorcycle drivers and passengers have passed away.

Cindy Coto, president of COSEVI, confirmed that the institute is working on helmet and clothing use regulations in order to guarantee that the users meet international regulations. Furthermore, COSEVI is also designing a motorcycle driver manual and a motorcycling test for future users.
