These are the three lagoons that formed in the Turrialba

The images are amazing! The Turrialba volcano now has a new attraction: three beautiful lagoons that were formed recently with the last rains.

Guillermo Alvarado, expert of the National Seismological Network, said that the accumulation of water in the colossus was visible for some days; however, with the heavy downpours facing the country the size grew.

A lagoon dries naturally because of lack of rain, because of a lot of heat in the crater or because cracks are formed. The color is due to the refraction of the light in microscopic particles of volcanic minerals,”

explained the expert.

The colossus maintains a permanent degassing process with a plume that rises less than 500 meters above the crater.
