Transgenders urge gender identity law approval

During the World Day Against Discrimination on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, activists urged the Legislature for the approval of a law that allows them to use the name they prefer.

Dayana Hernández, president of Transvida Association, explained that the demonstration’s objectives were to draw attention against discrimination, and to urge the approval of the bill that would entitle them to education, jobs and to use the name they prefer.
The activists stressed the need for the state and the government to respect the identity of transgender people.
