Truck drivers: “it was abuse of authority”

Due to the police operation that was carried out to clear the blockade of the truck drivers in Paso Canoas, they affirm that there was abuse of authority. According to the leaders, the officers who carried out the action damaged a vehicle.

According to Marco Murcia, president of the Truck Drivers Union, it is ironic that the same police made a demonstration on January 24th to defend their rights:

And now, when we claimed the same, they arrived at the border where we have the trucks and since of the driver was not there, they broke the glass and the door, they broke the keys and a policeman moved the vehicle. I think that’s unconstitutional, since it was private property.

In the video, it is observed that the police asks the truck drivers to move. Before that, Murcia explained that the officers had already broken the glass: They even attacked a boy whose shirt was torn.

The leader of the ANEP said that they are now waiting for the Presidential House to talk about Paso Canoas events because, as stated by Murcia, truck drivers could return if necessary.
