Two months of pre-trial detention for attacking an officer

The Criminal Court of San Jose filed two months of pre-trial detention to taxi driver Quesada Navarro who broke several teeth to a Security Forces officer during the demonstrations held on August 9th. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

It is thought that Quesada used a baton to hit officer Erick Chaves Sibaja in the face. Quesada is acused of injuries, aggravated resistance and mutiny.

In addition, the taxi driver must stand trial for stealing a cellphone and for apparently fracturing a client’s finger in 2014.

According to the Public Ministry, the crime happened in front of Lourdes Church in Montes de Oca. Clients asked him to leave them there because they only had 2,000 colones to pay for the service. Thinking that they wouldn’t pay, he attacked one of the women and fractured her finger and stole her companion’s cellphone.
