PAC members face trial for alleged fraud

July 5, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Mainor Sterling Araya and Manuel Antonio Bolaños Murillo, members of the Party Acción Ciudadana (PAC) now face trial for alleged fraud against the State.

The Public Prosecutor accuses the defendants of illegally collecting 16.2 million colones during the 2010 election campaign.

Sterling was the treasurer of the political group at the time, while Bolanos assisted with administrative duties.

Apparently, both of them charged the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) for special services that should actually be provided for free.

For this, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) would require the payment of more than 500 million colones for the economic damage against the State.

The trial is scheduled for the next 4 months.
