Another Costa Rican policeman was chosen by the United Nations (UN) to participate as an observer in the peace process in Colombia.

He is part of the group of police officers who will participate as observers to verify and monitor the abandonment of weapons, ceasefire and hostilities in the South American country.

José Gómez has been an officer of the Ministry of Public Security for 31 years. The 53-year-old official works in the Department of Plans and Operations, where he has been deputy for several years.

In November, another officer, Gilbert Brenes. traveled to Colombia with the same mission designated by the UN Police Division. Gémez will travel on January 5th. Both officials will be working in that country for 12 months.

It has been incredible, it gives me great satisfaction to be taken into account for such an important job as it is to watch over the peace of a brother country, which has had a conflict for so many years,

commented Gómez.
