Union will demonstrate to defend PANI’s budget

From 2:00 p.m. there will be a demonstration towards the Legislature to request the non-reduction of next year’s budget for the National Children’s Trust (PANI).

In a press release, Carlos Cabezas, from the Union of National Children’s Trust (SEPI), states that the demonstration will leave the Cultural Center of the Rights of the Child towards the Legislature.

The movement criticizes legislators’ interest on transferring PANI’s resources to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Supreme Court.

Since last week, the union has stressed the position of the Constitutional Chamber, with resolutions that require the Government to grant the budget established by the Organic Law.

The Social Christian Unity Party (PUSC) proposed last Thursday to take ¢ 25 billion from PANI to give them to Security to hire between 1,000 and 1,500 police officers.

PANI does not use all of its resources and that is why legislators have requested that the unused amount gets transferred to Security.
