US Embassy donates computer equipment to Transit

A total of 30 laptops and 20 tablets were donated this Wednesday to the Traffic Police, by the United States Embassy.

The equipment facilitated by the North American government is valued in more of 148 thousand dollars. That is to say, near 85 million colones.

US Ambassador Fitzgerald Haney and the Director of the US Embassy’s Office for Drug Enforcement Affairs, Christopher Harris, were some of the representatives of the United States that participated in the event.

This specific office was the one that made the donation to the Traffic Police, in the framework of strengthening the security programs developed jointly by both countries.

Mario Calderón, director of Transit, said that these team collaborations are fundamental to perform the functions of the police force, since they must constantly report on the work of their office and their collaborators, but they not always have the right equipment to do so.

Likewise, they are of great use for documenting and reporting when engaged in joint work with other police forces.

Some of the computers are of military use, hence they have higher protection against blows compared to other common devices, they also resist dust and water, which is why they are of great value to carry out the work in areas with rural routes or when the officer moves in motorcycle, exposed to the rain, for example.
