Traffic Police is preparing for the operation of the pilgrimage that will start this Friday, July, 22nd.
For this, 270 officers in different shifts will be concentrated between La Galera, in Curridabat, Basilica de los Ángeles in Cartago, as well as other parts of the country.
This year’s pilgrimage will be on a Monday, which according to the Traffic Police, complicates regulation.
It’s a business day, it’s a normal day,”
says John Rodriguez, regional director of Transit.
On Tuesday, they announced the measures to be taken, including:
-Regulated transit throughout the entire route, including Florencio del Castillo and Calle Vieja de Tres Ríos.
-Bicycles, skateboards and rollerblades will be banned from July, 30th.
-Horses will be banned as well.
-On August, 1st one lane will closed in route Florencio del Castillo, the other one will work in both directions.
-Pedestrians are advised caution to avoid accidents.
The main problem is that they walk in areas where no one is walking, in the same direction of vehicles and wearing dark clothes,” said Rodriguez.
People who cross paths without using the pedestrian bridges available will be fined.
