Vargas: “if the Chamber rules in favor of Uber, we’ll start offering illegal services”

Taxi drivers celebrated the rejection of the Constitutional Chamber to the accusation presented by the Association of Free Consumers (ACL) against Judge Fernando Cruz.

Rubén Vargas, from the Costa Rican Taxi Drivers Union, defended the magistrate’s actions and assured that the Chamber does the right thing by allowing Cruz to continue in the process.

The leader said that the resolution could be known next week and that if the Chamber rules in favor of Uber, taxi drivers will radically change strategies.

If the Chamber says that Uber is legal, we will return the plates to the Council of Public Transportation and we would demand that the millions that we have paid in taxes are returned to us. In addition, we would interpose a new administrative litigation against the State because it made us sign a contract where it said that the market was ours and we would start offering an illegal sevice. The one who loses is the user, because without rules, the law of the jungle will be imposed,

added Vargas.
