Where are the kits against Aedes aegypti?

For more than two months, the Ministry of Health has been promising kits to protect pregnant women from Aedes aegypti, the mosquito is responsible for zika. However, the Ministry has not kept it’s promise.

On Thursday, the institution’s press office did not talk about the status of these kits, which include repellents and nets for beds. One of its spokeswomen only stated that they are planning to deliver it soon.

Meanwhile, the number of pregnant women with zika is increasing. The latest epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry reported 15 cases this week. Two weeks ago there were only seven affected women.

For these women, prenatal care is a complex task. These are high-risk pregancies because there is a 14% chance that their babies are born with microcephaly.
