Zica cases are increasing: there are 839 patients

Confirmed cases of patients with Zika virus are increasing. According to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health, there are 839 patients.

This represents 131 more cases than the previous week. Among those affected, there are 2 new cases of pregnant women. They are from Nandayure in Guanacaste. One of them was diagnosed with the virus when she had about 3 months of gestation. The other patient was diagnosed in the ninth month.

Zika virus could have many consequences in infants, the most painful of them, the development of microcephaly.

The infection seems to be controlled in Garabito, where only 6 new cases were reported over the past 2 weeks. Hoowever, it remains strong in other places.

In Puntarenas, 43 new cases were reported in the same period; Limón and Orotina had 12 cases each, in Esparza 11 new cases were reported and in Santa Cruz there were 9 cases.
