Boat had cocaine in its walls

The boat that was seized in early hours of July 28th with more than 2 tons of cocaine was detected 200 miles off Cabo Blanco.

Authorities found the cocaine in the walls of the vessel.

According to Security Minister, Gustavo Mata, the boat was intercepted by coordinating with Colombian and American authorities as well as Intelligence, Coast Guard and Surveillance.

The minister’s hypothesis is that the suspects would download the drug in a clandestine port and then ship it to the United States or Europe.
There were 4 people in the boat: 3 Nicaraguan man and one Costa Rican national, who were all arrested.

Mata took this blow to drug trafficking to make a call for legislators to “shield” the country through corporate tax.

The country can no longer be shielded with little patrols and motorcycles, but with helicopters and boats that allow us to carry out the necessary operations,”

said the minister, who later added that

this is a call for the legislators to support us with corporate tax approval, which is the only resource that I count to fight organized crime.”
