February 7, 2014 by Staff News Writer

MSP FOR THE NATION.

A Criminal Court of Golfito, has ordered three fishermen suspected of transporting just under one ton (960 kilos) of cocaine to three months in jail, pending trial.

The men were arrested early on Wednesday by officers from the Drug Control Police (PCD) and the Coast Guard while sailing through Golfo Dulce in Golfito, Puntarenas. Police say they found the drugs in the boat, packed in black bags.

The registered owner of the boat says he sold it three years ago, but can not remember who bought it. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
