The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MREC) confirmed Colombian authorities provided two possible names and identification numbers of the people who would have been murdered in a farm in the department of Cundinamarca.
Based on these data, the Costa Rican authorities initiated a process for the revision of fingerprints in the Civil Registry. In addition, they coordinated with the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) so that, through the Interpol office, they could take the necessary steps to corroborate the identity of the victims.
Apparently, since February, the OIJ received a complaint about the alleged disappearance of two Costa Ricans in Colombian territory, but it wasn’t until Tuesday, when they found the bodies, that the Consulate of Costa Rica in Bogotá had a first report.
The discovery of the highly-decomposed bodies was made on a farm located in the municipality of Silvania, about 70 kilometers from the Colombian capital.
